🧪 Using and Caring for Your Molds

🧼 How do I clean my silicone mold?

Wash the mold gently using warm water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh chemicals. Let it air dry completely before storing.

🍫 Can I use the mold for chocolate or food?

Yes – if you selected the 15 Shore Food Grade silicone, it’s fully certified for food and skin contact. Craft-grade versions are safe for soaps, resin, wax, etc., but not for food use.

🕯️ Can I use these molds for candles or wax melts?

Absolutely! All versions of our platinum silicone are suitable for wax and candle making. We recommend the 15 Shore or 5 Shore craft versions for easy unmolding and detail retention.

🧴 What’s the difference between 5 Shore and 15 Shore silicone?

15 Shore is soft, flexible, and sturdy – ideal for most uses like soaps, resin, or candles.
5 Shore is extra soft and flexible – perfect for delicate shapes, flowers, or molds with deep undercuts.
Both are non-toxic and suitable for craft use.

📦 How should I store my mold?

Store your mold in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and dust. Avoid folding or stacking heavy items on top to preserve its shape.

🕒 How long will my mold last?

With proper care, your mold can last hundreds of uses. Avoid sharp tools, high heat, and always clean it gently after use.

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

🔥 Can I pour very hot soap or resin into the mold?

No. Always follow recommended pouring temperatures. Pouring overheated soap base or resin can damage the mold and reduce its lifespan. Wait until it cools slightly (usually below 60°C / 140°F for soap).

🔪 Can I cut or trim the mold to make demolding easier?

Never cut or modify the mold — it may cause tearing or loss of detail. If you’re having trouble unmolding, try using a softer silicone version (5 Shore) or place the mold in the freezer for a few minutes.

🧽 Can I scrub the mold with a brush or hard sponge?

No. Use only soft cloths or your fingers when cleaning. Harsh scrubbing can scratch the silicone and affect your soap or chocolate surface.

☀️ Can I dry the mold on a heater or in the oven?

No. Let the mold air dry naturally. Excess heat may warp the mold or break down the silicone over time.

🔧 Can I use metal or sharp tools to remove the item?

Never! Only use your hands or soft silicone tools to release the item. Sharp objects can puncture or tear the mold.

🌟 Pro Tips for Best Results

🧂 For chocolate molds – lightly dust with cornstarch

Before pouring melted chocolate, you can dust the mold with a small amount of cornstarch to help with easier release and smoother surface. Just tap out the excess before pouring.

🛁 For soap – let it set overnight

To prevent deforming or tearing, always let the soap fully cool and harden overnight before removing it from the mold. Rushing this step can damage delicate details.

❄️ Having trouble unmolding? Try freezing

If the item is difficult to remove, place the mold in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. The cold causes the material to shrink slightly, making demolding easier — especially for soft soap, chocolate, or wax.

🧊 Keep your mold cool and away from heat

Silicone performs best when stored in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources, or humid areas, which may affect flexibility or color.

🪄 Don’t rush the process

Whether it’s chocolate, soap or resin – give your project time to set properly. Many small imperfections are caused simply by demolding too early.
